Guiding Bible Verse for 2009

In the hour leading to the end of the year 2008 and the beginning of the year 2009, my Senior Pastor, under the inspiration of God, shared with us a very appropriate Bible verse as our guiding verse for 2009. It is found in 2 Chronicles 20:09 "If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or plague or famine, we will stand in Your presence before this temple that bears Your Name and will cry out to You in our distress, and you will hear us and save us."  This verse is so appropriate that even its reference Chapter 20:09 represented the year that we are in now, 2009. 

For 2009, all of us whether rich or poor, Godly or ungodly, wicked or kind, will face challenging and difficult times ahead. When it rains, it rains on the good and the bad. All, irrespective of who we are, will be affected. Already, we are seeing many being retrenched, facing calamities (as in the case of my good friend who lost his wife and 2nd son in a car accident on 1st Jan 2009), war in the Middle East, famine, political unrest, etc. We do not need to be prophets of doom to predict that we are in for difficult days ahead. 

So, what posture should we adopt as Christians ? It is found in this verse in 2 Chronicles 20:09 -"We will stand in God's Presence before this temple (a church) that bears His Name and cry out to Him in our distress and God will hear us and save us." My friends, this is a year not to run away from God and church but may this be a year where we stand in His Presence in a good church which glorifies and magnifies His Name. We have to pray like never before and P.U.S.H.

(Pray Until Something Happens). 

When we do that, even as we read of God's deliverance for His people in the latter verses of 2 Chronicles chapter 20, God will Restore, Bless, Give us Breakthroughs, Peace and Turnaround our situations even as we put our faith and trust in Him and seek Him with all our hearts. In the end, we read that Peace, Joy and Rest came upon God's people.  May we too find Peace, Joy and Rest in God's Presence for the whole year of 2009. God Bless & Keep You ! Shalom...
